The award was based upon the company's Expeditionary Mobile Barrier (EMB(TM)) and was presented at the GSN 2010 Homeland Security Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC on November 8th, 2010. Judging in the category was based on a combination of factors, including a demonstrable increase in customer organization security; technological innovation and/or improvement; the ability to fill a recognized government physical security need; cost reduction; and, efficiency improvements.

The EMB is an innovative, mobile vehicle net barrier that provides security in a variety of settings. Applications include utilization at security check points by law enforcement and military personnel, as well as on or near roadways by departments of transportation and road construction companies seeking protection for workers. It can be reset with new brakes and reused after an impact, generally in less than five minutes, compared with alternative barriers that often require extensive repair before reuse. With multiple anchor options available, the EMB can be set-up virtually anywhere a vehicle barrier is needed. A wireless remote control allows the EMB to be raised or lowered within two seconds.

The EMB is a solution suitable for organizations that need a cost-effective portable, reduced-risk active vehicle barrier. It has been purchased by the U.S. military for facilities such as Fort Sill, a United States Army Post near Lawton, Oklahoma. Fort Sill requested a portable barrier system that could be set up in 30 minutes or less at manned check points with the added flexibility of moving the barrier to another on-site location if necessary.
